Sustainable Native Timber Showcase and Design Competition
Coming again in 2019!
Woodfest is a fun and family-friendly celebration of all things local sustainable timber.
Learn from expert ‘makers’ and ‘growers’ panels of architects, woodworkers and interior designers. Enjoy viewing wooden works of art from furniture to love seats and a surfboard in the showcase and see who wins the design competition for most innovative use of silver quandong, silky oak and Queensland maple.
The event is free with lucky door prizes, and lunch hosted by the Bangalow Men’s Shed, serenened by local musician Luke Bennett. There will also be a farm tour on offer to view firsthand how the timber goes from seed to tree to product.
Come and celebrate the beauty, affordability and sustainability of farm grown native timber! Entry is free.

Native Timber Showcase
A showcase of timber designs by renowned woodworkers from the Byron Shire, including Tony Kenway, Grant Vaughan and Alby Johnson (who created this Rainforest Rocker), are on display.
Admire the finely crafted furniture, timber slabs and musical instruments made from local sustainable timber.
Lucky Door Prizes, BBQ & Live Music
Go in the draw to win one of our lucky door prizes including a $100 Firewheel Rainforest Nursery Voucher, Native Timber Pack and 'Heartwood', a book by Rowan Reid.
Enjoy a gourmet BBQ cooked up by the Bangalow Men's Shed and toe-tapping tunes by Luke Bennett.
Farm Tour & Milling Demonstration
Get shown around nearby Lune de Sang farm with a milling demonstration and tour of a mixed rainforest cabinet timber plantation.
Take part in an interactive talk about farm forestry with timber experts and researchers from Southern Cross University.
The Woodfest Design competition has attracted some innovative and beautiful pieces for you to view, from a quandong surfboard to wedding rings and love chairs, and you can find out who the winners are at the Prize Ceremony.
All of these celebrate the beauty, affordability and versatility of native sustainable timbers grown on local farms.
